Compassionate dental care for little ones

Dr. Crawford and Dr. Reddy welcome patients of all ages and love to see children at our Calgary, AB dental office. We feel that it’s more convenient and comfortable when families can be seen together at the same dental practice, and we look forward to building a relationship with your child. Creating an excellent experience for your child is our goal at every appointment because we understand how important these first visits are for your child’s dental future. Our entire team works to create a positive and upbeat environment that our younger patients (and their parents!) appreciate.

Is it time for your babe’s first dental visit? Or a checkup?

Their 1st dental appointment

Your child’s first baby teeth typically begin to arrive around six months old, and you should begin brushing them right away. Dr. Crawford and Dr. Reddy like to see children for their first dental visit around the age of one. Seeing your child early on not only helps them acclimate to our office, it also allows us to begin monitoring their oral health and development.

We encourage our adult patients to bring their little ones along to their own dental appointments so children can become comfortable with what happens during a routine dental visit. We’ll always ensure that your child feels comfortable and understands what’s happening during their procedures before we do anything.

A kid-friendly atmosphere & comfort options

We want your child to feel comfortable and welcome at Calgary Dental House, and you’ll find that our office is warm, modern, and inviting. Children who feel fearful may benefit from the use of nitrous oxide during their appointments. Nitrous is a breathable gas, administered through a mask, that works quickly to help patients feel relaxed and at ease. Nitrous is safe for children, and they can resume normal activities after their visit.

Pediatric dental services

Fluoride is a mineral that helps build developing teeth and remineralise small teeth that have decay. Dental sealants are a thin tooth-coloured coating that is painted over the chewing surfaces of your child’s molars. They serve to protect your child’s teeth from tooth decay and cavities. We find that sealants drastically reduce the number of cavities our patients experience.

If your child should have a tooth in need of repair, we offer NuSmile® pediatric crowns for children. These crowns are tooth-coloured and customised to blend nicely with your child’s smile so no one will notice their dental work. We also offer pulp therapy (aka root canals) for baby teeth if your child should experience deep decay or infection.

Fillings & filling alternatives

If your little one is prone to decay, like many kids are, we offer tooth-coloured fillings for kiddos. But we also offer silver diamine fluoride as a filling alternative for baby teeth that can stop decay in its tracks.
