At Calgary Dental House, you’ll find a wide range of services for both children and adults delivered in a comfortable and patient-friendly setting. Dr. Clark Crawford and Dr. Nikla Reddy are proud to offer quality dentistry to the surrounding communities of Alberta—and we look forward to building a relationship with you and your family.
We wish people could get as excited about oral hygiene as they do about the Calgary Stampede, but we understand! Brushing and flossing regularly feels like a chore, but when you think about all the good it’s doing for your oral and overall health, your attitude might start to shift!
We highly recommend brushing at least twice per day, flossing daily, and rinsing your mouth with water throughout the day to minimize plaque and acidity. And your effectiveness is only as good as your technique, so we would be happy to give you some pointers to maximize your hygiene routine.
Professional cleanings
Plaque begins to harden into tartar in as little as 24 hours, and only we have the tools to remove it! Our dental hygiene team is friendly and gentle for comfortable, guilt-free cleanings.
With a lot of information emerging about the link between periodontal disease and other health concerns in the body such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke, we feel that there’s never been a better time for you to take charge of your oral health, and we’re here to help you do just that.
Patients who struggle with their periodontal health may benefit from additional cleanings throughout the year. If you suffer from periodontal (gum) disease, these additional visits can help you effectively control your condition.
Love the gums you’re with
Our hygiene team is equipped to help patients deal with gum disease, whether they’re experiencing gingivitis (the early stage) or periodontitis, which is the advanced stage of gum disease.
For patients who feel anxious about dental procedures, we offer nitrous oxide to help you relax and feel comfortable during your treatment. Nitrous is a breathable gas administered through a mask worn during your procedure, and it’s safe to use during most types of appointments.
Nitrous leaves your system as soon as the mask is removed, which means you’ll be able to drive yourself home and resume your normal activities. Nitrous works fast, which helps you feel relaxed and calm. Our patients who feel fear or anxiety when it comes to dental care tell us they have found it very effective.
Breathe in, breathe out, and relax
Many people feel anxious or fearful of the dentist, and we strive to help our patients get the treatment they need while feeling safe and comfortable. Nitrous is ideal because it can be used for most procedures, leaves your system immediately once the mask is removed, and is also safe for children under certain circumstances.
If you’ve been avoiding the dentist, we would love to help you get the care you need, comfortably. Schedule a visit today and ask us about nitrous oxide!
Oral cancer is obviously not to be taken lightly, and we take our role as your oral healthcare advocates seriously as well. In a day and age when oral cancer mortality rates are on the rise, and the leading risk factor is now HPV which most adults will contract at some point in their lives, regular oral cancer screenings are more important than ever.
Even with all the information we have now, many dentists still don’t screen their patients for oral cancer regularly. We care deeply about our patients, so we screen you for oral cancer at every single exam to ensure we catch any potential abnormalities before things progress.
Early detection is key
One of the main reasons oral cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer is that it’s usually not detected until the later stages. If we can catch it in its early development, your chance of survival dramatically increases.
If you tend to clench and grind your teeth (known as bruxism), like many of us do, you’re probably doing it all through the night. Over time, your teeth will become chipped, broken, and ground down, and you may develop chronic pain and tension in your jaw joint (TMJ).
We want you to wake up without a sore mouth, and we want your teeth to last you a lifetime, so we’re happy to provide custom nightguards. A custom nightguard provides a buffer between your top and bottom teeth, preventing tooth damage and the need for dental restoration down the road.
Does your jaw hurt?
So you’re a teeth grinder. Do you also suffer from chronic pain in your teeth, jaw joints, face, head, neck, and even the shoulders? You may be suffering from TMJ/TMD, but the good news is, we can help provide solutions!
